Manchester United and West Ham play at Old Trafford on Saturday in a Premier League bout with plenty of betting value. United is looking to recover from dropping two points at Fulham last week and remain in contention with league leading Chelsea. West Ham began the season with two losses and six goals allowed, putting them at the bottom of the Premier League. As expected, United overwhelmingly leads the odds in this one. West Ham has tons of betting value on a win, but they haven’t done so at Old Trafford since May of 2007, which came off a Carlos Tevez deciding goal.

Manchester United started the season well with a 3-0 win over Newcastle, but followed that with a loss to Fulham. Paul Scholes is in great form at midfield, as is Darren Fletcher. Wayne Rooney is likely to start after missing the Fulham match. Look for him up front with Dimitar Berbatov. Rooney leads the odds for first goalscorer of the match with Berbatov not far behind. West Ham will be glad to have defenders Matthew Upson and Winston Reid, but Thomas Hitzisperger remains out with a thigh injury.

West Ham did win three consecutive matches against Manchester United between 2006 and 2007, but nothing lately. United has 14 goals in the last five matches, while allowing eight. West Ham has yet to score any points in the Premier League but have scored six goals in the last five games, while allowing 11 in. West Ham’s bloated value is tempting for an upset, but don’t fall for it since the Hammers lost 3-0 the last time at Old Trafford.
