As expected, Serena Williams is in the Wimbled semifinals. However, Venus Williams fell to the surprising Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova in the quarterfinals. We’ll have to wait for a third Williams sisters Wimbledon final. Also moving on are Russian Vera Zvonareva and Czech Petra Kvitova.

Serena Williams vs. Petra Kvitova

Serena took out China’s Li Na in straight sets in the quarterfinals. Kvitova battled qualifier Kaia Kanepi through three sets. Serena looks to be on her way to another Wimbledon Championship with her sister, Venus, bowing out early. She has kept a solid run in the tournament that included beating World #16 Maria Sharapova in straight sets. Kvitova has been a surprise coming out of a section that included #3 seed Caroline Wozniacki, #10 seed Flavia Pennetta and #14 seed Victoria Azarenka. It would be a great upset if Kvitova can beat the dominating Serena, but she did beat World #1 Dinara Safina in the U.S. Open last year. Serena can be backed for 1/12 at Ladbrokes. Kvitova is 8.00 at Titan Bet.

Vera Zvonareva vs. Tsvetana Pironkova

This is Zvonareva’s first Wimbledon semifinal, after coming off a big win over Kim Clijsters in the quarterfinals. She reached the Round of 16 in 2003 and 2004 but Pironkova will be her biggest test. Pironkova is also coming off one of the biggest wins of her career with a win over five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams. The 22-year-old Bulgarian is arguably the best woman on grass but hasn’t had the stage to show her talent until now. Pironkova didn’t have that tough of a road to get here compared to other quarters of the draw. Zvonareva is 2/5 at Party Bets. Pironkova is 2.95 at Titan Bet.
