The PGA Tour goes to Florida this week for The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass starting Thursday. There are plenty of big names in this fifth major of the golf season for your online sports betting.

With World No. 1 Lee Westwood and No. 6 Rory McIlroy sitting this one out, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Luke Donald head up the outright odds. Woods won the 2001 Players Championship for, curiously enough, his only win at TPC Sawgrass. This will be his first event on the course since the Masters and he withdrew with injury in this tournament last year. He has slipped to eighth in the world rankings because of some injuries and rust. Amazingly, his last win came all the way back in September of 2009.

Mickelson has also won this event before and tied for ninth at the Wells Fargo Championship last week. Donald has the same odds as Mickelson and is perhaps a better bet. He has six straight top 10 finishes and has been the most consistent golfer in 2011, especially with his deadly short game. The World No. 3 came in runner-up at the 2005 Players Championship.

Matt Kuchar is next in the odds after seven top 25 finishes in nine events this year, including five in the top 10. However, his last time times out have produced 27th and 21st place finishes. Adam Scott has some value with a good record on this course. The Australian won the 2004 Players Championship and has a pair of top 10 finishes as well. He has three top 10 finishes in his last four events, including a runner-up at the Masters.

Ben Crane has improved his game each year at TPC Sawgrass. He tied for sixth in 2008, tied for fifth in 2009 and tied for fourth in 2010. He has some each-way value after getting nine birdies in one round on this course. Defending champion Tim Clark is a big longshot and best avoided.
