Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Connecticut Huskies (8-4) vs.  No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners (11-2)

Date: Saturday, January 1st, 2011

Location: Glendale, Arizona

Time: 8:30 p.m. EST

The last bowl game of New Year’s Day follows the Rose Bowl. It’s the Fiesta Bowl between Connecticut and Oklahoma. Connecticut won the Big East conference by winning its final five games after starting the season 3-4. The Fiesta Bowl is the Huskies’ fourth straight bowl game since joining the Big East in 2004. The offense is led by junior running back Jordan Todman, who ran for 1,574 yards and 14 touchdowns on the way to Big East offensive player of the year honors.

Oklahoma won the Big 12 conference after taking out Oklahoma State and Nebraska. The Sooners are led by sophomore quarterback Landry Jones, senior running back DeMarco Murray and junior receiver Ryan Broyles. Jones threw an astounding 4,289 yards and 35 touchdowns. Murray rushed for 1,121 yards and 14 touchdowns. Broyles had 1,452 yards and 13 touchdowns.

My Pick: It’s the first meeting in history for these schools but Oklahoma should come away with an easy win for your online betting. Based on offense alone, Oklahoma should be good for a 38-17 rout.
