While NASCAR gears up for the Sprint Cup Showdown and All-Star Race this weekend, the Formula 1 season moves to Spain on Sunday for the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Sebastian Vettel leads the betting odds to win the race outright. Vettel has yet to win this event, but he has won three of four races on the season and hasn’t finished worse than second in any of them. He has finished in the top four for the Spanish Grand Prix in the last two years.
Mark Webber is winless on the year but ranked third in the point standings. He has finished in the top five in each of his four races. He won the Spanish Grand Prix last year and finished third the year prior.
Lewis Hamilton clips in at third in the odds and is the only driver other than Vettel to win a Formula 1 races this year. Additionally, he has two top five finishes. He finished in the top three of this race in 2007 and 2008, but hasn’t done well lately, finishing outside the top five in each of the last two years.
Fernando Alonso has some value as well after placing second here last year and fifth in 2009. He has two top five finishes on the season and comes in at fifth in the point standings.
