As the PGA Tour moves to New Orleans this week, the European Tour continues in Asia with the Ballantine’s Championship in South Korea starting Thursday. The golf tournament has been moved from the Pinx Golf Club to the Blackstone Resort in Incheon, Seoul. Newly crowned World No. 1 Lee Westwood leads the odds to win it.

Westwood recaptured the World No. 1 spot after winning the Indonesian Masters last weekend, thanks to a playoff loss by Luke Donald in The Heritage. It was his first win of the season after much criticism over his previous top world ranking. His six wins in Asia make him the man to beat at the Ballantine’s Championship.

Dustin Johnson is second in the odds after crossing over from the PGA Tour for his first appearance in Asia. It’s hit or miss with Johnson. For 2011, he’s finished in the top 10 three times, outside the top 25 three times, and missed the cut twice. Third in the odds is Ian Poulter, who tied for sixth a while ago at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions but has only finished outside the top 20 once on the European Tour.

Thongchai Jaidee was runner-up to Westwood at the Indonesian Masters and is a tempting bet this week. He won here in 2009 and is coming off 17th at the Malaysian Open. After little success on the PGA Tour, Y.E. Yang returns home where he has a much better record. The South Korean came in 20th at the Masters.

Other than that, Soren Kjeldsen has some value after finishing second in the China Open and 13th in Malaysia. Defending Ballantine champion Marcus Fraser is a huge longshot.
