The betting action is heating up for Thursday night with the top two clubs in Group A of the Europa League set to face off. Manchester City play Lech Poznan at Eastlands and both are 1-1-0 in the Europa League.
City are expected to easily take this match but the draw has some good value. A Poznan win looks out of the question, but both sides have earned four points in the group from their two matches so far. Poznan sit at the top of Group A because they have scored five goals while City have scored three. Three of Poznan’s goals came away at the defensively sound Juventus in a 3-3 draw in their first group game. City ended in a stalemate against Juventus as well, a 1-1 draw in their last match. But, City took the maximum number of points in their group opener against Salzburg in Austria.
Domestically, the clubs are very different. City are second in the Premier League, while Poznan are teetering on relegation. Despite winning the Polish First Division last year, Poznan have four defeats in the last eight matches. City are leading the odds to win the Europa League this season, with Poznan far in the distance. The betting odds are a lot closer between the clubs on winning Group A.
Expect City boss Roberto Mancini to take the pressure off Carlos Tevez for once and give it to David Silva, who scored off the bench against Blackpool last week in the 3-2 Premier League victory. Silva has excellent value to be first goalscorer against Poznan. Otherwise, Emmanuel Adebayor is another player to consider in that betting market. Poznan’s golden boy is Artjom Rudnevs from Latvia. He scored a hat trick against Juventus and has four league goals on the season. All in all, the match odds suggest an easy City win, but the Polish champs shouldn’t be taken lightly after drawing at Juventus.
