The 2010 Juddmonte International Stakes runs on Tuesday with the first Group One race at the York Ebor meeting. No three-year-olds will be running, so it will be a battle of the four-year-old horses.

Rip Van Winkle leads the antepost odds at the Juddmonte International Stakes. The Aiden O’Brien entry is coming off a close second place photo finish in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. He came within a nose of beating top 3-year-old miler Canford Cliffs. Rip Van Winkle is in great form, but doesn’t have an encouraging record over 10 furlongs. His best finish over that distance was second place behind Sea The Stars in the 2009 Coral Eclipse Stakes. His odds suggest a straight back bet as better value than laying him.

Byword is a class cold with much experience in France. His best result was taking a Group One win at the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. He also finished second behind a quality Goldikova at the Prix d’Ispahan in May. He should reach his full potential as a four-year-old, but, like Rip Van Winkle, is too short for an each-way bet at the Juddmonte International Stakes. He still offers good value on a straight back bet.

Twice Over is third in the betting markets for the Juddmonte International Stakes. He is fresh off a victory at the 2010 Coral Eclipse Stakes. He also won the 2009 Champion Stakes and finished behind Byword in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. However, he led the antepost odds at the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and has shown some inconsistent form in the past. He is also out of range for an each-way bet.

One more horse to look out for in your online sports betting is Dick Turpin. The Irish colt from Richard Hannon is coming off a Group One win in the Prix Jean Prat in France and finished second in three straight Group One races before that. He has decent each-way value and is a good contender for a place. In other words, back Rip Van Winkle straight and lay Dick Turpin in this horse race.
