A repeat championship may be in store for Rory McIlroy at the Dubai Desert Classic starting tomorrow. The young Ulsterman is looking to continue his success from last season and stamp his name on the top ten world rankings. He is coming off a third place at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship and is mostly backed at 15/2 to win the Dubai Desert Classic.

The event is bringing in seasoned competition with golfers like World #4 Lee Westwood, who finished third in the Qatar Masters. Swede Robert Karlsson won the Qatar Masters and is competing in the Dubai. Before Qatar, his last wins came all the way back in September of 2008 in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and a week later with the Mercedes Benz Championship a week later. Karlson also won the Order of Merit in 2008.

Martin Kaymer is another one to look out for. He won at Abu Dhabi this year and finished 4th last season in the Dubai Desert Classic. If you’re looking for a longshot, Ross Fisher is your bet. Fisher finished 13th last season and is ranked 21 in the world but is one of those golfers who sticks around and is always in the hunt at the finish.
