The Totesport Cambridgeshire runs Oct. 2 and Nationalism is leading the odds for the first leg of the autumn double race. The John Gosden-trained three year old is the sure leader of the pack and his odds will be getting shorter before the race.
Gosden has trained two of the last three Cambridgeshire winners and thinks Nationalism has the pedigree to add on to his success. The Newmarket trainer has been quite successful lately. He trained the St. Leger winner from last week.
Another horse with value in the Cambridgeshire betting market is Start Right. The Luca Cumani-trained horse finished fourth in the Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh. A month ago, Start Right won the Tatler Summer Season Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Before that, he won the Racing UK handicap at Newbury. Cumani said his other prize horse, Forte Dei Marmi, will not be running.
Second in the antepost odds at Cambridgeshire is Absinthe. Trained by Walter Swinburn, the four year old has won his last two starts and has run consistently well. He has placed or won eight of nine career races and has great betting value at this race. Watch the market closely, however, as his odds keep changing. Also at 10/1 is Ransom Note, trained by Barry Hill. Ransom Note had a nice win at the Addleshaw Goddard Stakes over 1 mile at York in August. The three year old has plenty of potential and looks ready for the extra furlong at Cambridgeshire.
Another horse near the top of the betting markets is Capponi. The Mark Johnston-trained horse won the UK Tractor Challenge Handicap last week. He has three wins and a second place finish in his last four races. He finished behind Ransom Note in the Addleshaw Goddard Stakes but still has decent value for Cambridgeshire.
