Shortly after the UConn-SDSU game tips off, No. 3 BYU (32-4) faces No. 2 Florida (28-7) in the Southeast. This should be another close game with the line slightly favoring Florida. The winner plays the Butler/Wisconsin winner.
Many people thought Florida was overrated as a No. 2 seed but the Gators took care of business against UC-Santa Barbara and UCLA. Junior guard Erving Walker scored 21 points in the win over UCLA and has come up big during March Madness. The Gators have beaten the odds thus far in the NCAA Tournament and are 16-1-1 ATS and hit the over in 19 of 30 games. They are 5-0 ATS in their last five non-conference matchups. Florida is one of two SEC teams left in the NCAA Tournament, with Kentucky being the other.
BYU had a fairly easy first round matchup against Wofford but then proved its grit against Gonzaga in the second round. National Player of the Year candidate Jimmer Fredette scored 32 points against Wofford and 34 against Gonzaga. The senior guard has kept his hot streak from the regular season going and his total lack of respect for the 3-point line has BYU in the Sweet 15 for the first time since 1981. The Cougars are 15-17 ATS and hit the over in 17 of 31 games. They covered in each of their wins over the weekend, but they are just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 NCAA Tournament games.
