There is a plethora of college basketball conference tournaments going on or soon to be starting. The Colonial Conference Tournament began today with some of the best mid-major teams in the nation competing for an NCAA Tournament spot.

The Colonial Conference Tournament includes 12 teams with games over the next four days. The single-elimination tournament is held at the Richmond Coliseum and the top four seeds have a first-round bye.

George Mason is the tournament favorite with Old Dominion and Virginia Commonwealth not too far behind. Those names should sound familiar as they have made their presence known in the last few years of the NCAA Tournament with some early upsets.

Old Dominion is the No. 2 seed after finishing second in the conference with a 14-4 record, and went 24-6 overall. ODU is the defending Colonial Conference champions and has five tournament titles to its name. Virginia Commonwealth finished fourth in the conference at 12-6 and went 21-10 overall. VCU has four tournaments titles, the last being 2009.
